At Fulton Elementary, students shine and teachers move on [Fulton/Highland]

Over at Fulton Elementary School, the following are some more of the Star-Spangled Kids for the month of April: Second grade: Emily George, Luke Rubin, Trace Johnson, Sunil Pateel, Alexis Ripkin, Kandis Borns, Jack Higginbottom, Yuanchu Kambon, Devin Vanterpool and Bella Pereira; third grade: Ben Hongladarom, Delaney Kilcarr, Riley Malwitz, Shania Ganoe, Kshirja Delvadiya, Abigail Kim, Owen Stiendorf, Anokhi Goduduri, Maddie Roberts and Bria Howard. Congratulations.

Several Fulton staff members will move on to their next great adventure.

Anita Trainor, crisis intervention teacher with the regional special education program, will retire after 16 years at Fulton. Best wishes, Anita.

Brandon Honza, technology teacher, will leave Fulton after serving in a number of different roles during his 12 years at the school. He'll be joining his family business. Good luck, Brandon.

Amy Petrilla, media specialist, moves over to West Friendship Elementary, where she'll be closer to her home. You will be missed, Amy.

Carol Knox, special education teacher, is also moving to a full-time position at Hammond Elementary. All the best, Carol.

Tammy Reed, Elaine Carr and Islande Pierre, who have helped out at Fulton in the role of student assistants, will move on to new assignments because of enrollment changes at Fulton Elementary. Their unwavering support for students will surely be missed.

In one of his last email missives for the school year, Reservoir High School Principal Pat Saunderson announced the students of the month for May. They are Alexis Atkinson, Ewan Ball, Ed Borders, Morgan Castle, Brett Davis, Evan Davis, Ashley Dominguez, Caroline Fourney, Giovanna Guarnieri, Nick Harris, Felice Henriquez, Kevin Hernandez, Toni Jennings, Andrew Le, Folarin Onifade, Aiman Tariq, Puja Trivedi, Celine Yakoumatos and Zainab Wurie. Congratulations.

Happy 237th birthday, America! I also want to wish a happy birthday to a good friend of mine, Wayne Liberati, whose birthday is also July 4.
