Even though another school year has ended, there is still a lot to report about the great things the kids at the local schools have accomplished this year.
Biyik Akinshemoyin of Reservoir High School's Class of 2013 completed his high school tennis career with a state championship in Boy's Singles. All in all, Akinshemoyin had a stellar high school career, winning three county championships, three regional championships and topping it off with a state championship.
Kudos also to Coach Karen Wolfe, who does an outstanding job mentoring and supporting all of the student-athletes at Reservoir. The track and field teams at Reservoir finished out the last meet in fine fashion.
Class of 2013 seniors Cindy Alms and Amy Oliver, along with Class of 2014 teammates Karli Smiraglia and Katie Wilson, the young ladies who make up the Girls 4x800-meter relay team, finished third overall and set a school record of 9:41.35.

The Girls 4x200-meter relay team made up of Daishea Williams, Jhanez Lawerence, Danso, and Kayla Pindell finished the meet in eighth overall, running their race in 1:48.90, just a scoshe (that's a technical term meaning less than a second) off their season best time.

In the pole vault, Katie Krutz tied the school record of 8 feet for an eighth-place finish. While teammate Kyle Kroll vaulted 11'6" for seventh place.
In the triple jump, Sosoo jumped 43'6" for fourth place.
Congratulations to each of you. And, congratulations to your wonderful coaches Phil Rogers, Jud Lincoln, Devon Brown and Tyrone Hickson.
In other news, the following Reservoir students were elected to the 2013-2014 Student Government Association as executive board officers: Eric Higgins, president; Alexis Michael, first vice president; Delaney Fox, second vice president; Sarah Sandler, secretary; and, Folarin Onifade, treasurer.
The Lime Kiln Middle School Lime Time Picnic, on May 31, was a huge success. Braving the heat, more than 300 students came out to play basketball, volleyball and soccer and to listen to the sounds of an excellent disc jockey. The kids consumed hamburgers, hot dogs, all kinds of snacks, drinks and Kona Ice snow cones.
A big "thank you" goes out to Andie Cohen and her troop of volunteers for putting together the best Lime Time ever!
