River Hill High's Luke Butrum earns Eagle badge [Highland/Fulton]

Luke Butrum, a 15-year-old Highland resident, received his designation as Eagle Scout on Jan. 12 at a Scout Court of Honor that was conducted at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Highland.

Luke is a sophomore at River Hill High School and a member of Boy Scout Troop 702 based at Mt. Zion. During his Scouting career, Luke hiked at Philmont Scout Ranch, N.M., sailed with Sea Scouts at Florida Sea Base in the Florida Keys and participated in many a summer camp.

For his Eagle Scout project, he chose to coordinate and build picnic benches for New Hope Seventh Day Adventist Church in Fulton. Bruce and Terri Butrum, his parents, are very proud of Luke and his accomplishments.
