A man was arrested after walking into Howard County police southern district headquarters Sunday claiming to have planted explosives there, officials said.
After an evacuation of both police and fire stations in the Fulton complex and nearby restaurants, teams performed a bomb sweep of the area and found no explosives.
Police did not immediately identify the man, who entered the station and was arrested around 4:40 p.m. He is expected to face several charges, department spokeswoman Mary T. Phelan said.
The two buildings and several parking lots were opened around 8 p.m., and police services were not interrupted in the meantime, Phelan said.
"We're still doing some other searches but we don't anticipate any imminent threat," she said.
