Congratulations to Reservoir High School's baseball team for becoming state champions. The team, led by coach Adam Leader capped its season with a win against North Harford High School on May 24 at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen. Way to go!
Another big congratulations to Reservoir for their engineering design and development program, which won first place in the county's STEM fair. Great job!
Savage Fest will be held on June 7. This is a great time in our community. It kicks off at 10 a.m. and there will be over 50 booths, lots of food and entertainment and it runs till 6:30 p.m. Come out and enjoy the day with your friends and family. I hope to see you there.
Reservoir is offering a variety of summer camps: sports, art, forensic science and drama. Camps are open for second graders through middle school and will run in July and August. Sign up now before they fill up. Information and registration for summer camps can be found at .
Patuxent Valley Middle School's Orchestral rocked the house, or at least Hershey Park. They recently had a competition at the park and came home with quite a few awards. The String Orchestra received a superior rating, won first place and the best section award went to their cello section. The Chamber Orchestra received a superior rating and first place with their cello section also taking best section award. The school also won the Overall Instrumental Award. Congratulations to the students and their orchestra director, Elizabeth Shin. Great job!
What a busy week for the fifth graders in our area. Bollman Bridge, Laurel Woods and Hammond Elementary Schools all held their simulated congressional hearings. What a great way to learn about the Constitution.

The 50+ Center has some wonderful activities planned for June. June 11 is the Father's Day Tee Time Lunch at 11:30 a.m. Entertainment and games will be provided. Cost is $5. June 20 is the spring art workshop which will be making bracelets. This starts at 9:45 a.m. and costs $7 which includes all materials. Registration is required for all events by calling 410-313-3880.
The North Laurel Community Fair will be June 14 at the Whiskey Bottom Shopping Center. Over 30 county, state and non-profit organizations will be attending. Come out for food, information and learn what services are available. There will be some free health screenings and events for the kids. The event will be held 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
