APL Allies in the Workplace present "Breaking the Code," Friday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. at the Kossiakoff Center, on the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory campus, 11100 Johns Hopkins Road. The play is based on Andrew Hodges' book, "Alan Turing: The Enigma," by special arrangement with Samuel French Inc.
Directed by Patti Restivo, of Laurel, the play dramatizes the true story of British mathematician Alan Turing, whom many scholars consider the unsung father of computers. He is also credited with cracking Hitler's U-boat Enigma codes. Later in his career, the British government convicted him of gross indecency under an 1885 law that targeted homosexual men.
