The Laurel Volunteer Fire Department is promoting the Vial of Life Project, which seeks to make medical information readily available for emergency responders.
Participants in the Vial of Life project are given a decal to place on their front door where it can be seen by responding emergency personnel. An information form is placed in a plastic bag, as well as other medical information, and the bag is then secured to the front of a home's refrigerator at eye level. The decal alerts responders to the information that is posted on the refrigerator, in the event that the patient can't communicate.
