Annual LARS Turkey Trot scheduled for Thanksgiving morning

Laurel Advocacy and Referral Services' ninth annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5k and 1-mile historical fun walk will begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28 outside First United Methodist Church of Laurel, 424 Main St.

The historical fun walk, sponsored by the Laurel Historical Society, begins at 8: 05 a.m.

Registration fee is $30 for each runner or walker age 18 and over, if registered before Nov. 17, and $35 if registered after Nov. 17. Registration for youth under 18 is $25. Registration will also be held at the race, beginning at 7 a.m.

Pre-registration and packet pick-up will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 27 from 3-6 p.m. at First United Methodist Church.

To register online, go to runsignup.com/Race/MD/Laurel/LARS5KturkeyTrot. Paper registration forms can be downloaded on the LARS website at laureladvocacy.org. The first 750 participants to pick up race day bags will receive a commemorative race T-shirt.

The course is USATF certified, and chip timing will be provided for all runners. The race/walk is held rain or shine, and there are no refunds. No pets are allowed; strollers are permitted.
