The sixth annual AMW Putting Fore Pink Golf Classic will be held again this year on June 10 at the Glenn Dale Golf Club. This event is in memory of local resident Kim Weber, who succumbed to breast cancer in 2007. Proceeds from the event provide financial support for the education of her four children, Ashley, Austin, Aimee and Aspen. Kim is described by those who knew her as energetic, engaging and dedicated to providing her children with educational opportunities. Tuition assistance from these events has been much appreciated by the children's father, Kent. Ashley has now completed her education, Aspen will be attending St. Joseph Catholic School, Aimee has been accepted at the Academy of the Holy Cross and Austin will continue at DeMatha High School.

The registration deadline for this year's event is May 31. Those who register by May 15 will receive a 10 percent discount. Items are also requested for the silent auction at the site.

Further information may be obtained from one of the co-chairs: Ed Whelan at 301-785-2715 or ed.whelan@comcast.net; or Mike Painter, 301-404-1148 or michaelpainter@comcast.net.

The Friends of Montpelier, the volunteer group dedicated to Montpelier Mansion, was saddened by the death of former president and current president-elect Beth Evans. Outgoing president Susan Morris remembered Beth's vision and drive at her recent memorial service. Longtime Friends member Debbie Phillips recalled that Beth was a loyal member of the Friends for 35 years. She was an activist in support of the preservation of the mansion and the success of its historical and cultural programs. Her inspiration and dedication will be missed.

Mark your calendars for the evening of May 14. Del. Geraldine Valentino-Smith will be greeting constituents at a community meeting at 7 p.m. at the Tabernacle Church, 11601 South Laurel Drive. Take this opportunity to bring your thoughts and concerns to the attention of the delegate. Light refreshments will be served. For further information, call 301-858-3101.
