Last year, county nonprofits and religious-based organizations received about $1.6 million in grants from the fiscal year program, according to county officials, including three nonprofit groups that offer programs to Laurel students. First Generation College Bound, which helps high school students achieve a college education, received $15,000; Lovely Ladies of Laurel mentoring group for girls received $10,000; and the Laurel Boys and Girls Club received $20,000.
Nonprofit organizations that have 501(c)(3) status and provide services in Prince George's County are eligible to apply. Only one application will be accepted from each organization. To download an application, go to princegeorgescountymd.gov.
Applications are due Friday, Nov. 22 at the Office of Management and Budget, Suite 3000, 14741 Governor Oden Bowie Drive, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772; email and facsimile applications will not be accepted.
The Office of Management and Budget/Grants Management Unit Organizations will review applications to ensure eligibility requirements are met. An executive review panel will then evaluate the applications and present award recommendations to the county executive's office for final approval.
