If you find yourself without plans for the Thanksgiving holiday, you are invited to join a vast array of folks from near and far at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 522 Main St., from noon to 3 p.m. for its annual holiday dinner. The doors are open to all: families, single folk, couples and those who may not have the means or ability to prepare their own dinner. Meals can be delivered to those who are unable to venture out, and if need be, transportation to the church can be arranged by calling 301-776-5151.
Laurel Lions Club is holding its annual Christmas tree sale again this year. The location of the sale is the Laurel Shopping Center parking lot, 910 Fairlawn Ave. They will offer a variety of trees, pine roping, wreaths and tree stands. The sale runs from Saturday, Nov. 30 through Saturday, Dec. 21. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 5 until 9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. till 9 p.m. One hundred percent of the profits will benefit community service programs in the city.
Members of First United Methodist Church, 424 Main St. will hold their annual bazaar Saturday, Dec. 7, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the facility's fellowship hall. Offerings include a New to You Table, handmade crafts, a silent auction and bake sale. Vendors on hand will include Scentsy, Sweet Minerals, Hawkeye's Barn Fine Woodworking, Pampered Chef and others. Hungry shoppers can purchase lunch. Proceeds will benefit local charities and the church's missions.
Also on Dec. 7, you and your youngsters can enjoy "Breakfast with Santa," at The Laurel Woman's Club, 384 Main St. A variety of breakfast items will be served. Price is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12. Seatings are available beginning at 8 a.m., with the last seating at 11 a.m. Reservations are required. Call Rosemary, 301-490-8053, sooner rather than later, as this popular event sells out quickly. Proceeds benefit local community and charitable causes.
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 7607 Sandy Spring Road, will present its annual Christmas Concert on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. The musical program entitled: The Music of Advent, Christmas and Epiphany: Prepare, Celebrate and Share, will be preceded by candle lighting in remembrance of children who have died. This annual event is sponsored by the Compassionate Friends Organization. Candles are lit at the appointed time around the world, encircling the earth for 24 hours in this remembrance of light.
