Monarch holds meet and greets with new principal

Monarch Global Academy Public Contract School in Laurel, opening next school year, is holding two meet-and-greets with its new principal, Donna O'Shea.

The meet-and-greets are 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26 at Jessup Community Hall, in Jessup; and Thursday, March 6 at the Monarch Academy in Glen Burnie.

For the Glen Burnie event, transportation will be provided at 5:15 p.m. from Resurrection Catholic Church on Brock Bridge Road in Laurel.

O'Shea was named principal of the new school earlier this year.

The school, currently under construction and opening in August, is still accepting enrollment applications from the Maryland City, Brock Bridge and Jessup elementary attending areas. According to the school's website, as of Feb. 11, the school has experienced "brisk enrollment interest" from those communities, but the maximum enrollment target hasn't been met. Once the target is reached, the school will continue to accept wait-list applications.

If a student applied before Feb. 10, enrollment is guaranteed and parents will be receiving formal letters of acceptance in the coming weeks. Students will continue to be accepted until the maximum enrollment for the first year is met.
