Brock Bridge Elementary starts school day earlier [Maryland City]

Brock Bridge Elementary got off to an earlier start this year with new school hours. Students may now enter the building at 8:40 a.m. (8:35 for breakfast at school) and dismissal time changed to 3:25 p.m.

The West Arundel Aquaducks once again took part in the swim team's annual awards banquet and family camp out. Retiring swimmers Danielle Villeneuve, Erik Cintron and James Oslund received the framed West Arundel letter as their years of accomplishments and leadership were noted. The "Top Five" Overall Team High Point award plaques were given to Kellianne Venit, Olivia Clark, Colette Pierce, Andrea Sturgis, Cecilia Ramirez, Jay Venit, Michael Venit, William Kendrick, Ryan Webb and Peter Moyer.

Awards for High Point, Most Improved and Most Dedicated were given out by age group as well. For the boys 6 and under: Noah McMahon (HP). Boys 7-8: Michael Venit (HP), Dominic Trejo (MI) and Michael Cintron (MD). The 9-10 boys: William Kendrick (HP), Cody Goodman (MI) and Anthony Panizari (MD). The 11-12 boys: Joseph Pacheco (HP), Michael Roundtree (MI) and Alex Ramirez (MD). The 13-14 boys: Jay Venit (HP), Douglas Nessler (MI) and Jason Schneck (MD). The 15-18 boys Ryan Webb (HP), Patrick Nessler (MI) and Clayton Campbell (MD).

Girls 6 and under: Presslea Smith (HP), Gabriella Prather (MI) and Katie Stalker (MD). The 7-8 girls Lisa Ozaki (HP), McKenzie Disbrow (MI) and Michala Roundtree (MD). The 9-10 girls: Olivia Clark (HP), Kendall Jackson (MI) and Sage Yeardley (MD). The 11-12 girls: Cecilia Ramirez (HP), Hailey Panizari (MI) and Allison Wise (MD). The 13-14 girls: Colette Pierce (HP), Alyssa Webb (MI) and Becca McMahon (MD). Finally, the 15-18 girls: Kellianne Venit (HP), Danielle Villeneuve (MI) and Andrea Sturgis (MD).

The West Arundel Swim Club will hold its famous chili cook-off on Sunday, Sept. 1, 6 to 9:30 p.m. Everyone is invited. Every family is asked to bring chili or main dish and a side dish or dessert to share. A small fee will also be charged at the door.

The Maryland City Volunteer Fire Department will hold its Longaberger Basket Bingo on Saturday, Sept. 7, at 3498 Fort Meade Road. Doors open at 5 p.m. Games begin at 7 p.m. Reservations accepted on the MCVFD Facebook page or by calling 301-483-4985.
