Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad, Fire Department pack tractor trailers for LARS

Bring donations to Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad to help pack a tractor trailer on Saturday

The Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad and Laurel Volunteer Fire Department will finish packing tractor trailers this weekend with donations for Laurel Advocacy and Referral Services.

On Saturday, Dec. 20, from 9:30 a.m. to noon, a truck on loan from Conway Freight will be parked outside the Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad, 14910 Bowie Road. Donations can be dropped off to help pack the trucks.

Santa Claus will pay a visit during the drop off event, and hot chocolate will be served.

Clyde Williams, of the LVRS, said donations include non-perishable food item, clothes for all ages and new toys. The toys will be distributed at both LARS and the Toys for Tots effort at Fort Meade, Williams said.

LARS is a nonprofit organization in Laurel that helps local residents who are homeless or have low incomes.
