After months of demolition, new construction was visible in August at Towne Centre Laurel, Greenberg Gibbons' mixed-use development that is replacing Laurel Mall on Route 1 at Cherry Lane.
Costing $130 million, Town Centre Laurel will be an open-air, mixed-use shopping complex that is pedestrian-friendly. The complex will have 400,000 square feet of retail, dining and entertainment space and 435 upscale residential units.
Confirmed tenants include a 12-screen Regal Theatre; a 49,000-square-foot Harris Teeter grocery store; Sports Authority; and Burlington Coat Factory, which was an anchor store at Laurel Mall.
According to a timeline released by Greenberg Gibbons, the first phase of retail is expected to be completed by spring 2014, with remaining retail open by late 2014. Residential units are expected to be completed in 2016.
