Laurel offices close, trash rescheduled for Labor Day

City and county offices in Laurel will be closed for the Labor Day holiday on Monday, Sept. 1, and trash and recycling collections will also be canceled or rescheduled for the Monday holiday.

Trash and recycling usually collected by Laurel Department of Public Works on Mondays will be collected on Tuesday, Sept. 2. Tuesday's trash and recycling will be collected on Wednesday, Sept. 3; there are no changes to Wednesday recycling collections.

In addition, there will be no residential special pickups or yard debris collections by Laurel Public Works during the week of Sept. 1. Next collection is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 10. Contact the Department of Public Works at 301-725-0088 or to schedule a pickup.

In Prince George's County, no trash or recycling will be collected Sept. 1; collections will resume on the next regularly scheduled collection day.

No curbside collections of trash, recycling or yard debris will be made Sept. 1 in Howard County. Collections will slide to the next day: Monday's collections will be made on Tuesday; Tuesday's collections on Wednesday; Wednesday's collections on Thursday; Thursday's collections on Friday; and Friday's collections on Saturday. The Alpha Ridge Landfill will also be closed on Sept. 1.

Anne Arundel County landfills and waste management service facilities are closed Sept. 1. Monday's curbside collections will be made Tuesday; Tuesday's curbside collections will be made Wednesday.
