Sales staff of Holiday Inn Express and Suites treated Laurel High School teachers, coaches and staff to lunch Aug. 15 during teacher duty days prior to the first day of school on Aug. 19.
Kelisa White, director of sales, said more than 150 Laurel High educators enjoyed lunch and a program that included Radio One News Director Sheila Stewart as mistress of ceremonies, and remarks from Laurel City Council member Valerie Nicholas.
Teachers received school supplies and gift cards from Laurel restaurants Don Pablos, Silver Diner, TGI Fridays and Potbelly Sandwich Works.
White said the luncheon was held to show the hotel staff's appreciation of Laurel High teachers and staff, and as a way of supporting the community.
The hotel, formerly Comfort Suites, has undergone a $3 million renovation and was renamed Holiday Inn Express and Suites. Sam Malhotra is the general manager.
White said Laurel High staff attending the luncheon enjoyed reuniting with two hotel employees who are graduates of Laurel High: front office manager Ash Khan and front office representative Enon Austin.
