A West Laurel man who apparently fatally shot his wife and stepdaughter barricaded himself inside the family's residence Monday morning after calling 911 and admitting to the crime, Prince George's County Police said.
Ronnie Lee Rainey, 59, also shot at his 15-year-old son, who was not injured and was able to flee, police said.
The victims were identified as Lisa Renee Rainey, 50, Rainey's wife; and her 27-year-old daughter, Ariale Chantre Shelton. All lived in the 16100 block of Malcolm Drive in West Laurel.
Police responded to the 16100 block of Malcolm Drive at 10 a.m. May 13 after a man, believed to be the shooter, called 911 reporting he killed his family and threatened to kill himself.
Officers on the scene were able to negotiate Rainey's surrender after he barricaded himself inside the home. Once Rainey was in police custody, officers discovered Lisa Renee Rainey and Shelton dead inside the house.
Rainey's son and another uninjured witness are cooperating with the police investigation, police said.
Police said Rainey is facing charges of two counts of first degree murder and one count of attempted murder.
