City officials will celebrate Arbor Day Thursday, April 24 at 11 a.m. at the Laurel Museum, 817 Main St.
As part of the celebration, the city will plant a tree on the museum grounds, and Mayor Craig Moe will receive the city's 21st consecutive Tree City Award from the National Arbor Day Foundation and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
To be named a Tree City, municipalities must meet certain criteria, including establishing a tree board or department and a tree care ordinance, budgeting for a forestry program and holding an Arbor Day observance.
