Deadline for absentee ballot in Laurel elections is Oct. 29

The deadline for city residents to file for an absentee ballot in the Nov. 5 City Council elections is 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29.

Applications for absentee ballot requests are available at the city's website, or by calling the Board of Election Supervisors at 301-725-5300, ext. 2121.

Applications should be returned to the Board of Election Supervisors, 8103 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel, MD 20707. According to the city's website, once an absentee ballot has been issued, a voter can only use the absentee ballot for the Nov. 5 election and cannot vote in person; the voter's name will be removed from the on-site voter registration list at the appropriate polling location.

Anyone registered to vote with the Prince George's County Board of Elections and who lives within the city limits is eligible to vote in city elections.
