Pitchfork attack attempted on Laurel Park employee

Anne Arundel County Police said an early morning argument at Laurel Park Monday led an employee to attempt to attack a second employee with a pitchfork.

Police said they were called to Laurel Park around 5:12 a.m., where a 27-year-old track employee said he was in a heated argument with Jose Maria Colindres Salazar, who also works at the track, when Salazar punched him and then charged at him with a pitchfork.

The victim hit Salazar with an unidentified object and then was able to get away without being injured.

Salazar, 60, of Laurel Fort Meade Road, was charged with first degree assault, second degree assault and reckless endangerment. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injury.
