Anne Arundel County police charged a Laurel man in a gas station armed robbery after identifying his shoes during a shoplifting arrest.
Dave Adams Benissan, 23, of Russett, was arrested Wednesday after being caught shoplifting at the Corridor Marketplace Target store.
Police recognized Benissan's shoes as matching those worn by a man with a handgun seen on surveillance video robbing a BP gas station in the 3300 block of Laurel Fort Meade Road March 22.
Because of the match with the surveillance description of the armed robbery suspect, detectives searched Benissan's residence, finding items that linked him to the robbery, including clothing and a black pellet handgun. Benissan was then charged with the armed robbery.
