Police make arrest after shots fired inside Laurel Weis supermarket

Anne Arundel County Police, with assistance from Laurel Police, arrested a man in Laurel Dec. 15 in connection with an incident where a security guard's gun was fired inside the Weis store at Corridor Marketplace Dec. 8.

Laurel Police on Sunday notified Anne Arundel Police that they were detaining a person in the 300 block of Washington Boulevard that matched the description of the suspect in the Weis incident.

Sean Crighton Macattram, 31, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with first degree assault, second degree assault, reckless endangerment and theft. He is being held in the Anne Arundel County Detention Center on $50,000 bond.

The security guard's gun was not recovered, police said.

Anne Arundel County police said the incident occured after a store security guard approached a man in the Weis store Dec. 8 because he was allegedly shoplifting. The man took the security guard's handgun and fired shots in the store before fleeing with the gun, Anne Arundel County police reported.

Police said there were no injuries and that the store security guard is licensed to carry a firearm.
