Howard County Public School System Superintendent Renee Foose last week proposed a $742 million operating budget for fiscal 2015. A public hearing on the proposed budget is Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. Work sessions will follow Feb. 4 and 11 at 7 p.m., and Feb. 6 and 18 at 1 p.m. All work sessions and the public hearing will be held at the Department of Education in Ellicott City. The board will vote on the request Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m., and upon approval the request will go before the County Council. The Howard district serves more than 51,000 students.
In Prince George's County, Chief Executive Officer Kevin Maxwell last month put forth a $1.7 billion operating budget proposal. The Board of Education will hold a work session on the proposal Jan. 27, at 5 p.m., followed by a 7 p.m. public hearing. A second public hearing is scheduled for Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. Another work session is set for Feb. 25, at 5 p.m. followed by a work session at 7 p.m. All board work sessions and public hearings are at the Sasscer Administration Building in Upper Marlboro. The Prince George's district serves more than 124,000 students.
In Anne Arundel County, interim Superintendent Mamie Perkins last month put forth a $1.04 billion operating budget proposal. The Board of Education will hold a budget work session Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 6 p.m. at the Anne Arundel County Public Schools administration building in Annapolis.
