Hammond High thespians bring 'Picnic' to their stage [North Laurel/Savage]

Theater has come to our area once again. The Hammond High School Theater Department will perform "Picnic" on Nov. 7 and 8 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 9 at 2 and 7 p.m.

The drama is set in Kansas in the early 1950's. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door or $10 for students and are available through http://www.tix6.seatyourself.biz/webstore/webstore.html?domain=hammondhs&event.

The 50+ Center is offering an Intro to Ballroom and Latin Dance Nov. 5 through Dec. 10. The classes are on Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. and cost $52 for the six sessions.

Hammond High School will collect food for the Bread of Life Pantry starting on Nov. 4 and running till Nov. 15. Food can be dropped off at the school or at the Pantry, which is run by the First Baptist Church of Savage. They church is at 8901 Washington St. in Savage. The collection is for nonperishable food items. The drive will culminate with the annual Burke Family Concert on Nov. 23.

Reservoir High School's Golden Equity Now Club hosted a lunch time activity to bring awareness to the struggles in some countries for women to get an education. They also raised over $100 to donate to girls in Mali to help them be able to complete elementary school.

Come to St. Francis of Assisi for the annual Christmas Bazaar on Nov. 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be around 30 vendors and over 100 silent auction items for you to bid on. They will also have fresh wreaths and Christmas greens, a cake walk, used book sale and lots of delicious treats from their kitchen. The church is at 8300 Old Columbia Road.

Resurrection of Our Lord Church is holding the annual Christmas Wonderland Bazaar on Nov. 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Nov. 16 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The bazaar will feature pictures with Santa, crafts, a kid's room, food Granny's attic and a silent auction. The church is also holding a raffle with top prizes including a trip to Deep Creek Lake or cash. The church is at 8402 Brock Bridge Road.

Do not forget the Guilford Elementary School Principal's Chat and Chew on Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. This will be an informal time to meet and get to know the principal of your child's school.

The Hammond Music Boosters will hold a Coach and Vera Bradley Bingo night on Nov. 15 at the Laurel Elks Lodge. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door for 20 games. For more information contact Debbie Wegman at deb@thewegmans.com.
