Turning 40, Laurel Woods Elementary celebrates [North Laurel/Savage]

Laurel Woods Elementary School is turning 40 this year and throughout the school year the school and PTA will be doing special events to celebrate.

On Oct. 30, the students will be creating stories, poems and pictures to put in a time capsule to share with future students.

Stay tuned for more activities as they happen. The birthday celebration will be in January, since that is when the school opened.

Santa is coming! Resurrection of Our Lord Church will hold its annual Christmas Wonderland Bazaar featuring pictures with Santa, crafts, food and a silent auction. It will also have a kids room and Granny's attic.

There is something for everyone including a raffle for a trip to Deep Creek Lake. Come out on Nov. 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Nov. 16 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The church is at 8402 Brock Bridge Road. For questions and information, call 410-792-7982.

St. Francis of Assisi will be holding its annual Christmas Bazaar on Nov. 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come find some early presents from a variety of vendors. They are located at 8300 Old Columbia Road.

Guildford Elementary School's principal will be holding a Chat and Chew on Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. This is your chance to talk with the administration and anything concerning your child's education. The event is informal and allows parents a great way to get to know the leaders of the school.

Do not forget that Reservoir High School's Music Department will host Music In Motion on Oct. 26. This musical competition includes schools from all around the area performing with their marching band programs. Tickets at the door are $10 for adults, $5 for kids with 6 and under free. The competition will start at 6 p.m.

Fulton Elementary will host a Curriculum Information in Reading and Mathematics Night on Oct. 28 starting at 6 p.m. The event will be broken into three sessions and you can attend any or all of the sessions. They will discuss math, primary Language Arts and Intermediate Language Arts. This is a great way to learn what changes will be happening with the new Common Core program.

Atholton High School's Music Boosters are holding their annual monthly fruit sales. Their first deadline will be Oct. 30 for pick up on Nov. 16. Go to their website for order information at http://www.atholtonmusic.org or contact Linda Corso at ahsmusicfruitsales@gmail.com.

Halloween Night is Oct. 31. Little ghosts and goblins will be running around from 6 to 9 p.m. If you are driving around your neighborhood during those times please be especially careful. Happy Halloween, everyone!
