Learn to improve your garden while protecting the bay [North Laurel/Savage]

Looking to learn more environmentally friendly gardening tips for your yard? Meet up with local gardeners for a presentation by the University of Maryland Extension.

This department of their College of Agriculture and Natural Resources will help inform you of ways to have a healthy garden while protecting our bay on Oct. 17 at the North Laurel Community Center at 7 p.m.

Fulton Elementary is joining Howard County's Pupil Personal Workers and the PTA Council in collecting coats, hats and gloves now till Oct. 23. There will be a drop off box in the main lobby of the school.

The clothing needs to be new or gently used and in good working condition. Clothing will be donated to families throughout our county.

Here is a great opportunity to clear out your closet and help others in our community. Coats will be distributed beginning on Oct. 26.

Atholton High School's Drama Department will present "Snow Angel" as its fall play Oct. 18 through 25. Show times are Oct. 18, 19, 22 through 25 at 7 p.m., Oct. 20 at 3 p.m. and Oct. 21 at 12:30 p.m. The performance will be in room B-120 and tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church will hold its annual Christmas Bazaar and is looking for vendors who want to sell at the Bazaar, which will be held Nov. 8, 6 to 9 p.m., and Nov. 9, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Spaces are $70, which includes a table. The space is approximately 8- by 8-feet. Spaces are in demand, so book now by contacting Martie Nagle at MCLNagle01@verizon.net or 301-490-9446. The church is at 8300 Old Columbia Road.

The North Laurel 50+ Center will sponsor a Cookbook and Bake Sale on Oct. 25, 10 a.m. to noon. On Oct. 30, the center will hold a Show of Music Legends and lunch. The music and comedy show will start at 11 a.m. The lunch will start at noon. A $5 fee for the show plus a lunch donation is requested. Dress up as your favorite music legend and compete for a prize.
