Reservoir Marching Band sweeps awards in competition [North Laurel/Savage]

Way to go, Reservoir Marching Band and Color Guard! The band recently competed in a U.S. Bands Competition at Century High School and won first place overall and for best music, visual and overall effect, sweeping the awards. Great job!

Another congratulations goes out to Reservoir High School. Over 20 students, under the direction of Gisela Cooke, planted 200 trees as a Community Service Project at Scott's Cove in the Rocky Gorge Reservoir. Great job helping the environment and our local community. This project is a program through Washington Suburban Sanitation Commission.

Calling all vendors and crafters. St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church is looking for vendors and crafters who want to sell at their annual Christmas Bazaar. The bazaar will be held Nov. 8, 6 to 9 p.m., and Nov. 9, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Spaces are $70, which includes a table. The space is approximately 8 by 8 feet. Mark your calendars to attend the Parking Lot Yard Sale at Resurrection of our Lord Church. The sale is 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine, on Oct. 12. Come out and see if you can find that special item you have been looking for. There will be food sold as well, so make your lunch date now. The church is at 8402 Brock Bridge Road.

Atholton High School's Academic Life Skills Classes are students that are significantly disabled and are learning life skills. They offer office help such as folding, stuffing of envelopes, labeling and much more. Work will be well supervised. What a great service for any business and for these students. Have you signed up yet for Success in Style's Pink Bag Lunch on Oct. 17? It will be held in the Great Room in the Savage Mill starting at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $35 each or 2 tickets for $50.
