Gator Academy tutoring program returns to Reservoir High [North Laurel/Savage]

It's the time again! Schools open their doors on Monday, Aug. 26. Join your PTAs and Boosters. Get to know your children's teachers and other school staff. Encourage your children to get involved in afterschool activities.

Reservoir High School PTSA is hosting the Gator Academy, a free tutoring program for RHS students, on any subject throughout the school year. The first sessions are Sept. 15 and 29. They will be held at the North Laurel Community Center, 2 to 4 p.m. They will also help with organizational help, tests and study skills.

The Savage Library is closed till next September for renovations. Starting Aug. 26, the Savage Express Branch will open in the Shopping Center at Route 1 and Gorman Road. It will offer some classes and materials while the renovations are progressing. Hours will be Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and, starting Sept. 8, 1 to 6 p.m. on Sundays. The address will be 8851 Gorman Road Suite 102 and the number is 410-880-5975.

The 50+ Senior Center at the North Laurel Community Center, from Sept. 5 through Oct. 10, will offer a Living Well Program. This program will help you develop habits which will help you with your health issues, pain and fatigue.

The center will also hold a BBQ with Bluegrass on Sept. 25 starting at 11 a.m. The cost will be $8 and the music is provided by the Savage Bluegrass Band.

Reservoir and Hammond High School's Back to School nights are Aug. 29. Reservoir will hold a college information session at 6 p.m. Atholton High's Back to School Night is on Sept. 3.

Hammond Middle's Back to School night is Sept. 19, Murray Hill is on Sept. 24 and Patuxent Valley's is Sept. 25, all at 6:30 p.m.

Laurel Woods' Back to School Nights will be Sept. 17 for grades K to 2 and 19 for grades 3 to 5. Forest Ridge's will be Sept. 16 for grades 1 and 2 and Sept. 17 for grades 3 through 5. Gorman Crossing's will be Sept. 17 for grades K through 2 and Sept. 18 for grades 3 through 5. Bollman Bridge's are Sept. 3 for grades 3 through 5 and Sept. 9 for grades k-2.
