It is almost time! Savage Fest will be June 1 and kicks off with a parade at 9 a.m.
There will be plenty of food, live music, pony rides and over 50 vendors. There is even a petting zoo.

I want to congratulate Gorman Crossing on an excellent Simulated Congressional Hearing by the fifth graders. Forest Ridge held the Simulated Congressional Hearings and did an excellent job. If you want to be impressed, ask these fifth graders about our Constitution. They know it as well as our forefathers.
The end of the school year means band festivals in middle school. I am proud to report how well two of our local schools did at the competition at Hershey Park.
Hammond Middle School won the following awards — Tony Terrasa, Maddie Rosenberg, Abby White, Josh Tebben and Eva Sauer were awarded as Outstanding Soloists. Outstanding Section awards went to the French Horn and Percussion sections of the Symphonic Band. First place trophies with ratings of Outstanding went to the Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble, and the Overall Middle School/Junior High Instrumental Trophy went to their Symphonic Band.
Murray Hill Middle won the following awards — Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Band I all received First Place in their divisions. The Wind Ensemble received the most outstanding Middle School/Junior High Band of the day and the Symphonic Band had the second highest score of the. They also won the Esprit de Corps Award, which is the award for the most spirited school of the day.
The North Laurel Leaders 4-H Club just held a fundraiser for Hero Dogs, which trains dogs for use by disabled veterans. The club has also been busy learning about good baking techniques, decoupage and scrapbooking. The Clover members, ages 5 to 7, have learned about appliqué, healthy food choices, and making sock puppets. For more information on 4-H call Roanne Smallwood at 301-725-3905.
Resurrection of the Lord will hold an indoor yard sale on June 1, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come out and find your treasures and get some great food. Pick up your raffle tickets as well. First prize is $3,000. The church is at 8402 Brock Bridge Road.
