Man robs Verizon store in Laurel

A man robbed the Verizon Wireless store in Laurel on Saturday by holding up an employee with a knife, police said.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department said that a man wielding a knife approached an employee at the back door of the business after it had closed.

The man then pushed the employee back into the store and demanded he place an unknown number of cell phones in a box, police said. The employee was not injured during the exchange.

Police responded to the call of a robbery at about 9:27 p.m. Friday evening and officers have not found the man. He is described as a while male in his late 30s with a slim build, dark hair and wearing dark clothing at the time of the robbery.
