A man was killed in Laurel Friday night after getting into a fight with a suspect who then ran him over in an SUV, police said.

The victim, Matthew Shane Cavin, 24, was arguing and fighting with a man before 10 p.m. inside of a home in the 7600 block of South Arbory Lane, police said. The fight spilled outside into a parking lot, and witnesses told police that the suspect beat Cavin in front of an SUV, then drove over Cavin.

Cavin was found by witnesses pinned underneath of a second car and was later pronounced dead on the scene, while the suspect fled in the SUV with an unknown woman. Police identified the suspect as Antione Kaliph Cauley, 27, and said officers are seeking him on a warrant for first-degree murder. Police said the SUV was white or a champaign color and possibly a Ford Expedition.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Laurel Police Department at 301-498-0092.

An attorney who has previously represented Cauley did not return a call for comment on Saturday.

In a separate incident, a man was shot in the foot at El Paraiso Bar and Grill in the 100 block of Bowie Road in Laurel after getting into an argument with more than one suspect. The victim was stable at a hospital, and police did not provide more details on the incident.
