Urbanstory boutique brings Korean styles to Ellicott City

For Howard Magazine
The owner of this Route 40 boutique only carries one or two items in each style.

Come for the unique finds, and stay for the chill vibes. Situated on Baltimore National Pike with large bright windows, white walls and posh furnishings, Urbanstory could easily pass for a modern cafe.

Owner Erin Kang offers the latest en vogue styles from South Korean women’s wear in her boutique. Among the racks, you will find fashion-forward styles such as minimalist and oversized tops and dresses, and trendy shoes like fashion sneakers.

Those less familiar with Korean apparel should note that items often come in just one or two sizes.

“Koreans love to watch Korean dramas and they want to dress like the characters, but they can’t find those kinds of styles here in America,” says Kang, who studied at Parsons School of Design and opened her shop six months ago. Kang wants visitors of her boutique to revel in finding unique items. “I only carry one or two of each [style] because [women] don’t like to see other people wearing what they have.”
