E.C. Pops brings popcorn and more to Ellicott City's Main Street

For Howard Magazine

Lance Sovine was inspired by the way Ellicott City came together after last summer’s flood. “I made the decision after a week or two of watching all of that, that I wanted to be a part of” Main Street. And what better way than with popcorn?

His new store, E. C. Pops, will sell more than 60 varieties of popcorn, along with specialty gifts like sculptures by Bill Finks and handmade soaps. Popcorn flavors include bacon cheddar, birthday cake, watermelon and piña colada. There are four different flavors featuring Old Bay, of course.

Among the eclectic offerings are Jelly Belly dispensers and a wide range of jams. Children can enjoy Pops the Bear, an animatronic storyteller, and complimentary balloons.

“Everyone has been saying how different it is and how much fun it is,” Sovine says.
