“If you can walk, you can jump,” says Danny Serpico, whose new business venture relies on the fun (and vigor) of bouncing.
The 31,000-square-foot Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park -- more trampoline than flooring -- has a lineup of activities for a variety of ages. Dodgeball, basketball and a foam pit appeal to teens and tweens for special events on Friday and Saturday nights, while toddlers get their own special jump time on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
“It’s a safe environment that you can bring your family and friends,” says manager Serpico, a Columbia native.
But jumping isn’t just for kids at Sky Zone, where SkyRobics classes for adults take a bouncy approach to the traditional aerobics class. Hour-long sessions, which cost $14 (there’s a half-price discount for your first session), disguise the chore of working out while still providing aerobic and muscle-strengthening exercises. Take, for instance, jumping down a vast lane of industrial-strength trampolines, landing in a foam pit, then army-crawling back to the arena wall. Or bouncing high enough to slam-dunk a basketball into one of Sky Zone’s tall hoops.
Open jump hours vary by day and are posted on Sky Zone’s website. Prices range from $11 for 30 minutes to $26 for 120 minutes. Sky Zone hosts birthday parties, too.
