Howard County Police made 21 DUI arrests on St. Patrick's Day weekend, calling the increased patrols a success.
"With 21 fewer impaired drivers on the road, the saturation patrol certainly had a significant impact," Police spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn said in an email.
According to Llewellyn, the 21 arrest were made during the period of Friday, March 15 through Sunday March 17, and were concentrated between the hours of 11 p.m. and 4 a.m..
Llewellyn said the department is not aware of any drunk-driving related accidents occurring in the county during the weekend.
Llewellyn said the blood-alcohol content range for those arrested was between .09 and .21.
