Howard County schools are closing one-and-a-half hours early Friday, Jan. 25 in anticipation of this afternoon's snow, the system announced at 10:30 a.m.
All school aftercare programs through the Columbia Association and the county Department of Recreation and Park are canceled, as are all school- and community-sponsored events, including high school athletic practices and games.
Light snow is expected to start in the early afternoon, with 1-2 inches of accumulation, according to the National Weather Service.
The county is under winter weather advisory from 2 - 9 p.m. Friday.
County schools had a two-hour delay for snow Thursday, Jan. 24.
Schools in Baltimore, Prince George's, Anne Arundel, and Carroll counties are dismissing two hours early. Montgomery County schools are closing two-and-a-half hours early in anticipation of the weather.
