Police arrest two in Ellicott City home burglary

Howard County Police are investigating if two men arrested in an Ellicott City residential burglary Thursday are linked to a string of daytime burglaries occurring in Ellicott City, Elkridge, Marriottsville, Clarksville and Sykesville, according to a news release.

Christopher Michael Kelly, 40, of the 10700 block of Green Mountain Circle in Columbia, and Luther Danny Davidson, 29, of the 12500 block of Frederick Road in West Friendship, have been charged with multiple degrees of burglary and several weapons violations in connection with Thursday's burglary of 3700 block of the Ligon Drive, police said.

According to the news release, police investigating the string of burglaries, which began in January, noticed a gold Mazda Protege, which a witness from one of the previous incidents reported seeing, parked in the driveway of an Ellicott City home.

After the car drove away, police confirmed that pill bottles and a white pillow case were stolen from the home.

Moments later, police located Kelly, Davidson and the car at a nearby gas station, police said. After searching the car, police found the stolen items, burglary tools and a hand gun with a fully loaded magazine, according to the release.

Police spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn would not reveal details from the other burglaries the pair could be linked to, citing that it is an ongoing investigation.

Davidson is being held without bond at Howard County Detention Center while Kelly is there on $325,000 bond.
