The Howard County Public School System has released the names of the 47 high school students who were named semifinalists for the 2013 National Merit Scholarship.
High school students are entered into competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Of the 1.5 million entrants, about a third of the 50,000 highest scorers are named semi-finalists.
The Howard County semi-finalists are:
