Centennial prepares for 1st annual Math Festival

STEMulating Minds, a group of Howard County advocates for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), is holding the first annual Howard County Math Festival Tuesday, Dec. 10, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Centennial High School in Ellicott City.

The group previously held the first annual Howard County STEM Festival at Howard Community College earlier this year.

The event is free and open to Howard County students and parents, and will feature presentations on topics that include statistics in baseball, teaching math with a Nintendo Wii and games, animation and math, among others.

Representatives from the American Statistical Association, Howard Community College’s Society of Women Engineers, the University of Maryland, Baltimore County Chess Team and math department, the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics will have exhibits at the festival, as well other organizations.
