Thanks to an early spring snow and the closing of Howard County schools Monday, the last day of school for students is now Wednesday, June 19.

Five inclement weather days were built into the 2012-2013 school calendar, meaning if no inclement weather days were used, the last day of school would be Thursday, June 13.

School was canceled for two days in October 2012 for Superstorm Sandy, Wednesday, March 6, in anticipation of a winter storm, and Monday, March 25 for an early spring snowfall.

The last day of school, however, may be adjusted, as Maryland was declared to be in a state of emergency during Sandy, and the Maryland State Board of Education may waive some of those make-up days.
