Oakland Mills had a perfect scoring opportunity earlier in the game when the team was awarded a stroke. Wilde Lake keeper Paige Boyer (12 saves) stopped the stroke, though.

“Oakland Mills’ Jordan Kerr and Olivia Eldridge were phenomenal players,” McElvaney said.

The Wilde Lake coach also complimented two of her players — Boyer and Marissa Sciabarra for their “amazing games.”

McElvaney said her team was speechless following its win. “It was a hard working season full of sad times but it’s paying off. They’ve worked extremely hard.”

Scoring two goals against River Hill in the last game of the regular season gave her team confidence, McElvaney said.

Wilde Lake will play Long Reach on Monday.
