Lightning suspends Howard boys lacrosse playoff game against Westminster

Lightning suspended the 4A/3A North Section I boys lacrosse final between visiting Westminster and Howard.

The Owls currently hold a 5-3 lead over the Lions. Teams will pick up at the beginning of the third quarter tomorrow at 7 p.m.

Howard got on the board first, when Scott Bruner connected one of his two goals on the day at the 7:27 mark in the first quarter.

Westminster’s Ryan Hursey scored once, and added two assists in the first 24 minutes.

Through the first half:

Westminster 5, Howard 3

Goals: W – Ryan Hursey, Hunter Davis, Scott Gwyn; H – Scott Bruner (2), Cody Ford.

Assists: W – Hursey (2); H – none.

Saves: W – Ryan Aler 6; H – Bryan Mauser 3.

3A/2A, Section II final

River Hill 9, Northeast (AA) 8 OT

Josh Schulman scored the winning goal for the Hawks in overtime. River Hill will play the winner of Glenelg and Centennial for the 3A/2A South Regional championship.

Goals: RH – Jimmy McEneaney (2), Tyler Sauer (2), Jake Friedman (2), Josh Schulman (2), Zach Beard.

Assists: RH – McEneaney (3), Friedman, Derek Issac.

Saves: RH – Darius Khademi 3.

3A/2A, Section I final

Glenelg leads Centennial, 5-1. Game suspended in second half, and will be made up tomorrow at 5 p.m.
