This winter for Howard County indoor track and field featured a number of cancelations and rescheduled meets, forcing the athletes and teams to be as resilient as ever.
After the showing the 3A and 4A teams specifically put on at the state championship meet, fans wouldn’t have known just what the athletes had to overcome to get there.
To start, the Long Reach boys team collected championships on the county and state level. Led by Tosin Oyewole and Robert Carter, the Lightning squad was a force throughout the entire season.
On the girls side, both Howard and Reservoir were some of the top teams as well.
Individually, athletes like Karli Smiraglia (Reservoir), Calvin Pitney (Glenelg), Jen Bleakney (Atholton), Chris Heydrick (River Hill), Jamila Brown (Wilde Lake), Taylor Selber (Long Reach), Bryan Sosoo (Reservoir), Bre Hamilton (Howard), Gabby Rayner (Howard), Justin Marsh (Howard), Taylor Sciafe (Howard), Alec Font (Centennial), the Mt.
