Chapelgate girls lacrosse defeats Catholic

Roman Catholicism

Emma Rufolo scored three goals and Julia del Carmen and Christina VanWingerden each added two as Chapelgate defeated Catholic, 10-8, in an Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland C Conference game.

With the scoring going back and fort only a single goal separated the two teams at halftime.

“We began winning draws with 6:19 left in the first half and went on a nine-goal scoring streak,” said Chapelgate coach Colleen Norton.

That streak gave the Yellowjackets the cushion they needed to hold of Catholic, which scored twice in the second half.

“This was a great game played by two very skilled teams,” Norton said.

Megan Morales scored four of Catholic’s goals.

A make-up game against St. Timothy’s is the only game left on Chapelgate’s regular season schedule. The Yellowjackets are 8-4 in conference play and 10-4 overall.
