Though rain and sleet were prevalent throughout the day Monday, Howard County schools and the government took precautions should the weather worsen.
The Howard County Public School System announced that all after-school activities would be canceled Monday. That includes school- and community-sponsored events such as high school athletics and the PTA Council's General Meeting.
However, childcare provided by the Columbia Associaton and the county's Department of Recreation and Parks will still be held.
Howard Community College also announced it would be closing at 6 p.m. because of the weather.
On Monday, Howard County's government employees were on liberal leave.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
