Temperatures edged above freezing by lunchtime in Howard County, but the icy conditions had already done a number in the area.
At one point, Baltimore Gas and Electric reported more than 4,500 customers had lost power due to the storm. As of 5 PM Wednesday, that number was down to just over 3,300 outages, most of which were in the western and norther parts of the county.
Howard County Police said there had been six ice-related collisions reported since 6 a.m. Police said there were numerous reports of trees and wires down throughout the county — primarily in the western region.
Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services also reported several road closures earlier this morning, including Morgan Station near Woodbine Inn, Old Frederick Road and Forsythe Road. have been re-opened.
The Howard County Public School System canceled school today, using the last inclement weather day built into the calendar. County libraries opened on time.
