A Howard High School student was charged with assault, robbery and theft after his attempt to rob another student in the gym lobby after school hours was caught on camera.
Police said the male student, whose identity has not been released, approached another male student around 5 p.m. on Wed., Oct. 24 and asked him for a dollar.
When the victim told the student he had no money, the student proceeded to go through the victim's pants pockets, police said.
Police said the victim then pushed the student and told him he wasn't giving him any money.
The student then grabbed the victim and forcibly removed cash from the victim's pocket, police said.
Police said the victim was able to grab and recover most of the money, but that the student threatened to assault him if he continued to ask for the rest of the money.
The student only returned the money when the victim told him he was going to notify school staff.
According to police. a video of the incident confirmed the victim's story and the student admitted to stealing the money.
The student was charged, and released into the custody of a parent.
