Howard County police will conduct tactical training Wednesday night and early Thursday morning at Howard High School, bringing a heavy police presence to the area.
Police's SWAT team will be responding to a fictional, fluid emergency scenario at the school, located at 8700 Old Annapolis Road, from 7 p.m to 2:30 a.m., according to police.
In addition, Phelps Luck Elementary School, located at 5370 Old Stone Court, will be used as a staging area for equipment, officers and cars.
Phelps Luck Principal Sean Martin said volunteers will role-play citizens inside Howard High during the training.
"There is no cause for worry or concern regarding tonight's scheduled police activity," Martin said in an email to parents. "I just wanted to provide a 'heads-up.' We are fortunate that our local first responders are so purposeful and diligent about planning and participating in ongoing, realistic training."Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
