The Applications and Research Lab of the Howard County Public School System is holding an open house information session, and Career Academies shadow days, for student and parents to learn more about classes available at ARL.
The parent and student information session is Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 7 to -9 p.m. at ARL, 10920 Route 108 in Ellicott City. A second information session is Thursday, Jan. 9 at the same time.
Student shadow days are Tuesday, Nov. 5 and Wednesday, Nov. 6 at the ARL. The shadow days are open to 10th-grade students, who will attend classes at ARL for the day to learn more about the program. Transportation will be provided from the students’ schools, and students should contact their school counselor for more information and permission slips.
Through the Career Academies, ARL provides Howard County students opportunities to earn college credits and industry certifications, participate in workplace and mentorship experiences and receive hands-on, project based learning. Academy options include finance, health, architecture, automotive technology, biotechnology, nursing, cyber security, computer systems, construction, hotel and restaurant management, culinary science, emergency medical technician, animation and graphic design, among other fields.
